Thormodsdalur is located about 20km E of the city center of Reykjavík, SE of the lake Hafravatn. The target area is the previous mining and drilling zone and the immediate areas towards the south and north.

Metal values in pipe scales have been shown to reach 106 g/t gold, 2,743 g/t silver, 12.80% copper, 7.75% lead and 17.00% zinc.

About Us

Focus set on promising early exploration targets

We want to be known as one of Scandinavia most successful junior explorer. With the current focus on precious metals Iceland Resources will focus on engaging in promising early exploration targets. With an open minded management we will focus on expanding our portfolio of projects within the Nordic countries. We will accomplish this by greenfield explorations, strategic partnerships, mergers - acquisitions and potential listing within the short term. In 2016 we will focus on our Icelandic assets along with evaluating other potentials within the Scandinavian region. We are going to achieve our goals with an exceptional and diverse team of professionals and consultants that we are putting together. IR takes the approach that quality team work will lead to results.


Kristin Olafsdottir

Kristín has worked in both private and public sectors in Iceland and England in various sectors including Alcoa fjarðarál aluminium smelter in Reyðarfjörður Iceland. Kristín has studied in University of Limerick Ireland and the University of Iceland she holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Public Administration

Vilhjalmur Thor Vilhjalmsson

Mr. Vilhjalmsson holds a business management diploma from The University of Bifröst, Iceland, and has been involved in the civil construction industry for over 15 years as an entrepreneur both in Iceland and in the UK.

Vilhjalmur Eyjolfsson

Director/Project Manager
With over 40 years of experience in the construction industry in Iceland Mr. Eyjólfsson Headed one of Iceland´s largest civil construction companies and has worked on many of the largest civil construction projects in Iceland, Including dual highway projects and Hydro Power plant projects.

Natasha Henwood

Chief Geologist
Natasha is an Exploration Geologist with specialisms in structural geology and geological mapping. After graduating from the University of Leicester in 2004 with a First Class MGeol (Geology), she went on to complete a PhD on the Palaeoarchaean tectonometamorphic evolution of southern West Greenland at the University of Edinburgh.

Helen Salmon

Senior Geologist
Helen graduated in 2013 with a PhD from Birkbeck College, University of London in collaboration with St. Andrews University, Scotland. Her thesis focussed on trace element enrichment in highly evolved alkaline rocks using the Gardar Province, south Greenland, as a case study. She has undertaken extensive field work in this area on the Motzfeldt and Ilimaussaq intrusions, both of which contain notable polymetallic and REE Resources.

Margrét Traustadóttir

Margrét graduated in 2015 with a master’s degree in Natural Resource Management, specialization in Resource Geology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The well-known Skaergaard intrusion was the main focus of her thesis where she looked at the evolution of fluids, to try to further understand its formation history.
